The True News, The Good News, Not Fake News

What the world is in desperate need of is Truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. What we need are preachers who like the Dwight L. Moody’s, the George Whitfield’s, and Charles Spurgeon’s of the world.

We are in dire need of preachers who will preach the truth and not soften it or candy coat it.

Paul told us that there will come a time when we will accept the preaching that tickles our ears, messages that have been adjusted so it is what I want to hear, not what I need to hear.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NASB)

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:   preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.   For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,   and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.   But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

The truth needs to be preached that is the long and the short of it!  The time has come and now is that people don't want to hear sound doctrine, they have accumulated teachers in accordance to their own desires, they are turning from the truth and are turning to myths.

There are too many preachers who like some political leaders are too much into Fake News, telling false truths and taking a truth and stretching it beyond recognition to make it fit their point.

The problem with that is people;

1.     Feel that this is a way to live life, if the preacher twists and turns things so can I.

2.     They are left in their sin and that is exactly where Satan wants them

3.     They follow a man, not God

The old saying “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar” may be true for flies and may be true about people listening to a preacher. But as I have taken to calling them an M&M's message doesn't do the sinner any good being left in sin.

Honey may attract the fly, but something must clean up the mess and vinegar will do that. Vinegar will disinfect and clean where the flies have been.

There are times I have been told that very saying in relation to how we should preach. It has been said that these mega church preachers are so popular because they serve up a soft Gospel.

Does preaching or sharing a soft Gospel bring the people to where they need to be? Does it get them to see sin as sin, does it bring them to repentance?

People say that the Spurgeon's, Whitefield's and Wesley's style of preaching could not be used today. People need to hear the truth. They need to be brought to repentance and see sin for what it is sin.

A verse that always reminds me of how serious those who teach and preach should be.

James 3:1 (NASB)

Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.

I take preaching very seriously. Before I preach I will seek Him and I will never preach M&M's.  The truth must be preached, even it if it is hard to swallow!

It has been said mega churches should be supported even if they are preaching a soft Gospel. I can't justify supporting someone who doesn't preach Jesus, the real and true Jesus.

John 8: 31-36 (NASB)

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;   and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”   They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”

Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.   The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.   So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

It is in knowing Jesus and His Word that changes us. Those who know Him, will know the Truth and that Truth Will Set Them Free, he Who the Son sets Free is Free indeed. In preaching a soft, candy coated message they are left as sinners enslaved, and that is not what a preacher is to do.

Paul taught us to preach but one thing, and that is Jesus Christ and Christ Crucified.

1 Corinthians 2: 1-5 (NASB)

And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.   For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.   I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling,   and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,   so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

Power is in the Word of God, a power sets men free and it is in preaching the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

We must wake up to the fact that we are living in a very twisted truth world. We must act and correct it now. Narrow is the path that leads to life and broad is the path that leads to destruction. Are we going to leave people on the wide path or be the ones that help them find the path of life, the narrow way.

Matthew 7:13-14

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Some one has to stand up for the truth and preach it.  How will they be saved or repent without hearing the truth.

Romans 10: 12-17 (NASB)

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;   for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?   How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who  bring good news of good things!”

However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”   So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ and continuing in His Word we will know the truth that will set us free.

The Word brings light and shines in the darkness. Jesus is the Word, in Him is Life and He is the Light.

Are you willing to bring the Good News, The Truth? Are you willing to help them leave the world and all its twisted, distorted and fake news behind and bring them to the Truth?
